Back to Work!

I went back to work this week, and it was much easier than I thought it would be. I will admit that on Sunday I was a little weepy, although I didn't let anyone know. But Monday morning got here, and Carter was so nice, she only got up once at 4:00 so I got a great night's sleep. Of course Carter got rave reviews at daycare. She might be the most fussed over baby there! Jordan was super excited to have me back at school. She was so glad to be able to come to my class before and after school. However, on Wednesday night a cold front blew in, and something came in with it. During the middle of the night, poor Miss Carter was very congested and there wasn't a thing I could do about it. Luckily, her doctor let us come in Thursday morning, and she was diagnosed with her first cold. :( She and I stayed home for the rest of the day, and her Marmoo came and stayed with her today. I'm hoping her nose starts running soon, to alleviate the stuffiness.

Jordan has started softball, which is always interesting. She tries so hard, and I am so very proud of her. She throws the ball so much better than when she played t-ball, and she is not afraid to get in front of the ball to catch it. Now we just need to work on batting. It's a little scary to swing at a ball that is zooming by at 35 mph! But, on a positive note, she did get a hit in her scrimmage last night. We were all so surprised, no one more than her. She forgot to run to 1st for a minute!
Before Carter's first day of school. Yes, Jordan is wearing a St. Patrick's Day shirt. Gotta love the fashion sense of an 8 year old.

Softball

Jordan decided that she wanted to play softball this year. We played t-ball for two years in Athens, and while it was fun, she never really enjoyed it all that much. The teams were stacked, and unfortunately we were never on the winning team. This paired with the fact that Jordan doesn't have the best hand/eye coordination, made t-ball not so much fun. So you can imagine how surprised I was when she wanted to play this year. I was a little leery because of the coordination thing and she's not the fastest girl in the world. But, we signed up and she had her first practice last night. I was pleasantly surprised that she could throw the softball better than the last time she played. Then, I looked down to feed Carter, and when I looked back up, I noticed Jordan was walking off the field with her coach. I kept waiting for her to come to the car, but she never did. So, when practice was over, I found out what happened. She got hit in the nose by the ball! I wasn't too surprised, because if something like that is going to happen it's going to happen to her. I was so proud of her though, because she told coach she wanted to keep playing and she wasn't afraid of the ball. The reason it hit her face, was because she was trying to catch it. Now, she is still pretty slow (she'll never run the 100M) but she is definitely improving! When I get a picture of her lovely swollen nose, I will post it too.

Gasch

When I first started dating Jim, he had a dog named Gasch (pronounced Gash). He was a great dog, even had his own chair in Jim's house. I guess his only downfall was he liked to run, if ever given the opportunity. So, when Jim and I got married, Gasch became our dog. I cannot say enough what a great dog he was. We could leave him inside all day and he would not tear anything up, or potty anywhere in the house. Shortly after our one year anniversary, Gasch started acting very odd. He would follow me everywhere. If I went outside, he was right by me. When I went in, he followed me in. He kept a very close eye on me. Jim and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with this crazy dog, but he knew something that Jim and I would find out shortly. He knew, long before us, that Jordan would be joining us. Sadly, he died before he could meet Jordan. (He was mysteriously getting out of the yard on a daily basis, and he went toward the highway the last time.) It was very hard on me, and even harder on Jim. He had Gasch for 8 years before he died. With all of this said, yesterday, the girls and I were on our way home from getting Jordan's softball stuff when I passed a lady walking 2 dogs. I literally stopped in the middle of the road, one of the dogs looked just like Gasch! This is an amazing fact since Gasch was a mutt. So, at supper, I tell Jim, I don't want to make you sad, but today on the way home, and he stopped me and said, you saw a dog that looked just like Gasch! He had seen the same lady earlier! We know there is no way it was our dog (like I said he was 8 when he died, and that was 8 years ago) but what an awesome feeling to see our dog again.
